Civil War and Reconstruction

This course will examine military aspects of the war, as well as political developments during it, including the political history of the Emancipation Proclamation, the Gettysburg Address, and the Second Inaugural. The course also examines the post-war Amendments and the Reconstruction era.

Instructors: Joseph R. Fornieri is Professor of Political Science at Rochester Institute of Technology. He has written and lectured extensively on Abraham Lincoln and has a forthcoming book on Lincoln's statesmanship. He has received several awards for outstanding teaching. Stephen Tootle is Assistant Professor of History at the College of the Sequoias.
